The Evidence Based Guidelines for Type 2 Diabetes represent systematically generated statements, designed and developed to assist health care clinicians, health promotion practitioners as well as consumers to make informed decisions about appropriate management of specific circumstances and conditions related to type 2 diabetes.

The Guidelines consist of a total of 9 diabetes guideline topics, which are:
- Primary Prevention
- Case Detection and Diagnosis
- Hypertension
- Lipids
- Macrovascular Disease
- Blood Glucose Control
- Diabetic Renal Disease
- Diabetic Foot Disease
- Patient Education.

Endorsed by the NHMRC, the Guidelines series has been developed by a Consortium, led by Diabetes Australia Ltd and consisting of major stakeholder organisations representing consumers, diabetes practitioners and specialists, and primary care physicians.
