From the ASSO President

Last year ASSO joined with Diabetes Australia (Victoria) and the Cancer Council of Victoria to form The Parents Jury as an advocacy platform for Australian parents.  It gives parents a chance to have their say on the food and physical activity environments their children face.  It is free to join, it is online, and it needs more members.  We now have a part-time coordinator on board (Justine Hodge) and we are able to launch some of the campaigns the founding parents said they wanted last year.

This week the first 'TV Food Ads Awards' program was launched and parents can vote for the 'Pester Power Award', the 'Smoke and Mirrors Award', and the 'Parent's Choice' award, each of which has 3-4 nominations.

If you are a parent, take a look at the website www.parentsjury.org.au and join up and vote.  Pass this message on to other parents and support this important public health initiative from ASSO.
