Obesity Society Membership
The Obesity Society is a scientific association representing a broad range of professions working in the areas of overweight and obesity.
Obesity Society Objectives:
On matters relating to overweight and obesity within the Australasian region, the objectives of the Society are to:
- Provide an independent and authoritative voice broadly representing a multi-disciplinary membership;
- Be actively involved in policy development;
- Promote an improved public understanding;
- Promote an improved professional understanding;
- Promote and facilitate research.
Join The Obesity Society:
Any medical graduate, scientist or health professional with interests in the field of overweight and obesity, is eligible for nomination to become a member of the Obesity Society.
Prospective members of the Obesity Society must complete an Application for Membership form and be nominated by an exisiting Obesity Society member. Application to join the Obesity Society must be accompanied by a brief Curriculum Vitae. This application will be considered by the Membership Committee and nomination will be official following formal approval by the Obesity Society Council. Upon notification of membership to the Obesity Society, payment of the first year’s membership fee must be made within 28 days of this notice.

Membership to the Obesity Society permits access to:
- An interactive website, with 'members only' access
- Regular newsletters
- Reduced registration fees to all Obesity Society scientific meetings
- Proceedings of the Annual Scientific Meeting
- Information on Obesity Society awards
- Additional national and international information (e.g. IASO newsletter)
- Members may vote for Council officers and may be nominated for Council (after serving more than 2 years as full member).
Renewal of Obesity Society Membership:
Current members of the Obesity Society are sent an invoice to renew their membership on June 30 of each calendar year. Payment of membership subscriptions and changes to a member’s contact details can be made on the Obesity Society website.
