STUDENT PRIZES

At every Annual Scientific Meeting, the Obesity Society awards student prizes for the Best Oral Presentation and the Best Poster Presentation.

In 2007, at the 15th ASM in Canberra, the Best Oral Presentation was awarded to Jenny Deh Yi Chow for her presentation titled \"Selective estrogen receptor alpha activation ameliorates hepatic statosis in the male ArKO mice\". The Best Poster Presentation was awarded to Stephanie Ipavec Levasseur for her poster titled \"The effect of a lifestyle intervention on visceral fat, liver fat and intramyocellular lipids in obese men\".

In 2008, ANZOS did not award prizes for best oral and poster presentations, as the AHMRC Congress was held in conjunction with the ANZOS program.

TRAVEL GRANTS

The Obesity Society provides travel grants to enable students especially to attend conferences in the areas of overweight and obesity.

STUDENT AWARDS

The Obesity Society Student Award was developed to recognise the best scientific paper published in the 12-month period preceding the closing date for abstracts for the Annual Scientific Meeting by an active member of the Obesity Society, early in their career.

The aim of these awards is to promote and support the role of young investigators in the field of obesity research.
