Obesity Society Council Sub-Committees:

Sub-committees are now a formal part of the Obesity Society council structure and are entrusted with Executive power to act on behalf of Council. The following sub-committees were ratified at the recent Obesity Society Council meeting:

Clinical Sciences	Responsible for making judgements, recommendations for action and statements on clinical (practice and research) issues.	Tania Markovic
Public Health	As above for public health matters.	Anna Peeters
Sponsorship and Finance	Provide governance of finances and engage and negotiate with sponsors.	Anna Peeters
Conference Organising	Oversee the organisation of the Obesity Society ASM and any other scientific meetings involving the Obesity Society.	Anna Peeters
Membership and Awards	Review membership applications and decide on merit.  Handle any issues of member misconduct.  Oversee the promotion and selection of the Obesity Society awards.	Tony Okely
New Zealand Group	Consider the special needs of members within NZ.  Work to improve membership base in NZ. Organise special events in NZ and respond on behalf of the Obesity Society on NZ issues.	Elaine Rush
Childhood Obesity Liaison	Work closely with ACAORN and advise Council on special obesity issues relating to children.  Prepare responses from the Obesity Society on issue relating to childhood and adolescent obesity.	Alexia Pena
