2008 Annual Scientific Meeting

The 2008 Obesity Society Annual Scientific Meeting was held as part of the Australian Health and Medical Research Congress on Thursday 20th November and Friday 21st November, 2008 in Brisbane. ANZOS extended their meeting to Saturday the 22nd, with a ANZOS-only session held at Rydges Southbank Hotel to allow a larger number of oral presentations by members and to better use our invited speakers.

The program for the Obesity Society meeting was well advanced with an exciting line up of speakers.  Top class national and international speakers included  John Blundell (University of Leeds, UK), Steven Heymsfield (Merck Pharmaceuticals, USA), Gary Hunter (University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA) and Yves Schutz (University of Lausanne, Switzerland).  There were also plenty of sessions for free communications and posters from submitted abstracts.  In addition we had ANZOS-only sessions which included workshops which have been popular at past ASMs.
